Alternate names: Banská Štiavnica, Banská Štiavnica a Banská Belá. Banska Stiavnica is located in Ziar nad Hronom, SW of Zvolen at 4827 1854, 84.5 miles ENE of Bratislava.

The suburban, hillside crown of a hill is separate but near other cemeteries. Reached by turning directly off a public road, access is open to all via a masonry wall and non-locking gate with no sign, but Jewish symbols on wall or gate. 100-500 19th-20th century tombstones in original locations. The marble, granite, and sandstone flat shaped tombstones or finely smoothed and inscribed stones have Hebrew, German, and Hungarian inscriptions. The site is Jewish cemetery only. Adjacent properties are cemeteries. Occasionally, private visitors stop. Within the cemetery is a pre-burial house. No threats. [date-pre 1997]
