Oct 21, 2006: Ten gravestones in a Kaluga Jewish cemetery were vandalized.  A local Jewish leader, Vladimir Feldman, and the cemetery's watchman, Sergey Gorbunov, were speculating that the attack may have been the work of a neo-fascist organization. An investigation is said to be underway. [Apr 2014]

Apr 15, 2004: Police in the town of Kaluga arrested three young thugs in connection with the desecration of the Jewish cemetery there. According to the local police, 18 gravestones were smashed, including some that were 90 years old. The police believe that these thugs belong to an unknown youth organization. The charge brought, in keeping with Russian law, was "attacking [human] remains and their burial places by a group of people. [Apr 2014]
