Słownik Geograficzny Królestwa Polskiego (1880-1902), XIV, p. 747: "Żary". 1900 Jewish population: 333. This town in southern Poland with 62,625 inhabitants in 2006 is in Silesian Voivodeship and previously in Katowice Voivodeship (1975-1998). [July 2009]
