Gmina Otmuchów is an urban-rural administrative district in Nysa powait, Opole Voivodeship in SW Poland on the Czech border with its seat is the town of Otmuchów, 12 km (7 mi) Wof Nysa and 59 km (37 mi) SWof the regional capital Opole. The gmina 2006 total population was 14,225 and 5,261 in the town. [June 2009]

CEMETERY: Normal 0 In Otmuchów, Jews always have been a minority as in 1885 when 27 Jews lived here to 1930 with only ten. Otmuchowska synagogue was completely destroyed during Kristallnacht. The oldest known gravestone dates from 1819. The last burial was that of Jakob Schneider, who died in 1919. In recent years, local middle school students and young people from Germany, Czech Republic, and Israel cleaned the cemetery located outside the city to the north toward the village of Nieradowice on the southeast edge of the forest. 30 19th-20th century graves remain isible in a overgrown forest cemetery near Otmuchów.
