Community Ascheberg Coesfeld

Cemetery: Located at the Suedfeld, Dörnweg, Waterforwinkel. Used about 1800 - 1927. 16 gravestones are visible. According Farwick, in the 18th Century, a burial ground "on the Bült" in the west of the village existed, but no traces remains. Between 1936 and 1937, the South Fieldcemetery was vandalized, 18 gravestones were destroyed completely. During Kristallnacht pogrom, the site was desecrated again. In 1946, the cemetery has been restored. [Sep 2012]
