Alternate names: Kārsava [Latv], Korsovka and Корсовка [Rus], Korsove and קאָרסאָווע [Yid], קאָרסאָווקע  and Korshovke [Yid]Karsau [Ger], Karsava [Lith], Korsówka [Pol] in Vitebsk region, 16 miles N of Ludza (Liutzin), 24 miles NE of Rēzekne (Rezhitsa), near the Russian border. 1900 Jewish population was 609. City has railroad station on the Pskov-Daugavpils line and is a highway junction. Industry includes metalworking.
