Cimetière: This cemetery was founded in November 1899. On 8 May 2005, some 60 gravestones were smashed in the cemetery. A swastika was discovered on the door of the cemetery's groundskeeper. The incident occurred the day after the memorial service for the town's Holocaust victims had been held. Two young vandals, aged 14 and 12, were caught and confessed. They said that what they had done was a foolish act. It is of note that this is the first time that anything of this nature occurred in Sarreguemines. [January 2008]
