Yiddish: האראדעץ . 52°12' N, 24°40', 168 mi SW of Minsk, 42 miles E of Brest, 13 miles E of Kobryn, 5 miles W of Antopol. Słownik Geograficzny Królestwa Polskiego (1880-1902), III, p. 133: "Horodec" #1. The small town on the Muchavetz and Kobrynka rivers, once part of Kobryn five miles away, was nearly ruined in 1653 by the Swedish army. The Jews and their property suffered from Polish soldiers.
