cemetery history and photos.Jewish dead here were first buried in Berwangen (Bad Rappenau) Heinsheim and Waibstadt. Since the mid-19th century a cemetery on their own at here at Fürfelderweg (Parcel 450/1; area 33.09 a; Getränkehandlung Kuhn). In the cemetery is a memorial to the "victims of persecution 1933-45." This last burial was in 1973 (Elsa Gutmann born Vollweiler), [Feb 2013]

IN USE: From 1877 (oldest identified gravestone) until 1938 and 1973.

NOTES:

Prior to having their own cemetery in the mid-19th century, the Berwangen Jewish community used the cemeteries in Bad Rappenau-Heinsheim and Waibstadt.
The cemetery contains a memorial listing the names of Jewish victims from Berwangen, during the Nazi era 1933/45.
The last funeral to take place here was that of Elsa Gutmann neé Vollweiler in 1937, see Illustrated reminicences Abraham und Elsa Gutmann (1940-1967).
