The Jewish community existed since the 17th century after the Thirty Years War when the community grew from one Jew. Five Jewish families in  1722 increased to 1795 in 15. The synagogue 1988 plaque] [existed at least since 1686, replaced in 1805 by a new synagogue in the Mühlgasse. Around 1850 the Jewish community with almost 180 people saw a declining population due to emigration. Since 1887 the Jewish cemetery existed. 1933 Jewish population was 37, h mialf of whom emigrated to the U.S. in 1938. The synagogue in Mühlgasse was destroyed dduring November 1938. The site has been a garden since. The last eight Ittlinger Jews were deported in October 1940 in the Camp de Gurs w ith only one known survivor. [Feb 2013]
